An Introduction to the CAP Standards for Accelerated Programs

In this time of accountability and scrutiny by many agencies, the Council for Accelerated Programs (CAP) created its Quality Standards for Accelerated Programs from its research and documentation of best practices. These standards provide a touchstone in the continuing quest for the highest possible quality in the programs provided in an accelerated format. This workshop will discuss each of the nine standard areas in detail with suggested documentation for institutions, and the definition of the credit hour in accelerated programs will be discussed.  CAP’s Model for Good Practice of Accelerated Programs in Higher Education, which was ratified by the CAP Executive Board in December 2011, will be shared and explained. The accelerated program leadership for any institution who is planning for a regional accreditation visit within the next year, or wanting to compare their program to others across the U.S. should consider this training. This is an excellent precursor to a Quality Standards Program Review (noted above).
